A micro-credential is a certification that recognizes the successful completion of one or more courses focused on developing specific skills and competencies.
Micro-credentials consist of short, concentrated groups of courses that are flexible, innovative and based on industry needs. They are designed to be high-quality and meaningful credentials. Micro-credentials may be offered in on-campus, online, or hybrid formats. Some are stackable and can be combined to form a part of a larger credential.
Upon completion of all courses, learners receive a digital badge recognizing their achievement. The badge contains embedded information identifying the competencies attained, along with the evidence and criteria required to earn it. Through the MyCreds platform, the badge can be downloaded and shared on social media or professional networks such as LinkedIn.
