Course description

This course allows students to continue developing and building a framework to effectively engage and support volunteers and programs.Students will create a comprehensive, custom portfolio of tools and resources for their organizations based on current trends and best practices. The course's foundation starts with designing and developing a position description and conducting a risk assessment that meets the needs of volunteers and the organization. The position description then creates a foundation for a recruitment strategy, an application form, a comprehensive screening and selection process, and a structured interview tool.Building on the foundation, students will create an orientation plan for the position or group session using adult learning principles, styles, and various presentation methods.The importance of volunteer support and supervision is examined, and various strategies are discussed. Students will learn strategies for addressing performance management issues and develop a performance feedback tool for the position.This course has optional virtual class components.
