Course description

This course provides an examination of the principles, products, and practices of life insurance in Canada. Students will study risk management concepts, the legal and regulatory framework governing life insurance, professional and ethical responsibilities, client fact-finding and needs analysis, underwriting principles, and policy ownership structures. The course explores term, whole life, and universal life insurance products, policy provisions and riders, beneficiary designations, taxation considerations, and the use of life insurance in personal, family, estate, and business planning. Through the analysis of client situations and insurance solutions, students will develop the knowledge and skills required to assess insurance needs, evaluate available coverage options, and apply life insurance concepts within a financial planning context.
