The need for insurance is universal, and the need for experienced and caring professionals is always on the rise. Conestoga's online, part-time Business - Insurance program is your gateway to a rewarding career with stability and professional advancement opportunities. Designed to provide you with broad exposure to business practices and niche expertise, this program will connect theory with practice and will prepare you for a future in a versatile industry, allowing you to make a real difference in your community.

This program is also offered in full-time delivery.

Program information

All courses must be successfully completed within 7 years of acceptance into the program.

Course fees to complete this program total approximately *$9,900.00.

*This is the estimated amount for domestic students and may differ if students take equivalent courses. Fees are paid when registering for each individual course and are subject to change each term.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older with mature student status (See Mature Student definition for details.)
  • Grade 12 compulsory English, C (min 60%) or U (min 50%) , or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1251), or equivalent min 60%
  • Grade 11 Mathematics, C (min 65%), M (U/C) (min 55%), or U (min 55%), or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics (MATH1375) min 60%

  • Distinguish the organization, structure, and roles and responsibilities associated with property and casualty insurance companies and intermediaries

  • Analyze the coverage and policies currently available through companies providing property and casualty insurance to inform client communications, recommendations and underwriting

  • Apply the processes and procedures used in adjusting losses, settling claims and explaining and completing documentation specific to property and casualty insurance

  • Evaluate the factors affecting the acceptance and underwriting of property and casualty insurance risks

  • Use common technology and software towards the completion of property and casualty business tasks

  • Model ethical and appropriate working relationships using knowledge of property and casualty insurance, customer service skills, and interpersonal communications

  • Illustrate how basic economics and property and casualty insurance market cycles affects brokering, underwriting, and claims
