This course builds on primary care nursing competencies with a focus on interprofessional communication, therapeutic nurse-client relationships, and culturally safe, individualized care. Learners will explore health promotion and interventions across the lifespan, such as immunization, contraceptive care, well-baby visits, and cancer screening, while ensuring culturally safe care including interventions supporting Indigenous health sovereignty. The course emphasizes completing thorough health and medication histories, comprehensive assessments, and the use of medical directives and evidence-based tools to guide nursing practice.
