Indigenous Studies: Truth and Reconciliation

Course description

This course aims to promote a basic understanding of the history, politics, and resiliency of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The course includes an overview of the Truth and Reconciliation Report, UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People, and the Royal Commission on Aboriginal people. As we improve our understanding of Indigenous history and political structure, we can better appreciate the history and challenges faced by contemporary Indigenous Peoples. Learn about the Truth and Reconciliation and prepare your own action plan to be an ally. This is an experiential course and participation is required and may include building of a lodge and a field trip.
