About the program

Change is a constant in today's business world. Successful leaders need a broad range of skills to effectively implement and manage workplace changes of varying scopes. This two-term Ontario Graduate Certificate program is ideal if you are preparing to take on the challenge of a supervisory, management, or leadership role supporting business transformation. You will explore a variety of change management theories, models, and principles to build a solid foundation. You will view change through an organizational lens, including culture, strategic direction, organizational readiness, and hierarchical influences. You will analyze the human side of change such as the psychology of change, motivational factors, and effective communication. Through a variety of hands-on activities such as group work and case studies, you will gain and apply skills related to project management, strategic planning, evidence-based decision-making, and continuous improvement. Strategic change management skills are highly prized in today's climate. You will be well prepared to not only help your business manage change but also drive successful, sustainable long-term transformation through strategic change management practices.

Successful graduates of this program will be well-prepared to continue on to complete The Association for Change Management Professional's (ACMP) Change Management Practitioner certification.

Course fees to complete this program total approximately *$7,500.00.

Admission requirements

  • An Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree or equivalent

Note re: admission requirements

  • If your transcripts are from outside of Canada, you will need to obtain a document to document general evaluation. You can use an approved provider of credential evaluation services such as ICAS or WES, or you can request a credential evaluation through the college using the Assessment of International Credentials for Admissions and Credit Transfer online form.
  • Applicants possessing degrees/diplomas from institutions where the language of instruction was not English will be required to provide test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency. Test scores, if required, would be a minimum of TOEFL iBT 88 with no individual skill less than 22; IELTS 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0; CAEL 70 with no sub-test band scores less than 60; PTE Academic 58; CELAP (Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement) 82 or higher; Cambridge Exams 180 (no individual score less than 170); or equivalent scores in other recognized standard tests of English.

Graduate opportunities

This program focuses on developing change management and transformation skills that are transferable across all industries and business contexts. The program may be of interest to graduates with two-to-three-year diplomas and degrees in Human Resources, Bachelor of Arts, Information Technology, Organizational Behaviour, Leadership, and General Business. The program will appeal to students with a career goal of progressing to a change leadership role. Graduates of this program may also choose to complement their studies with an additional graduate certificate in areas such as business or may choose to pursue a relevant master's degree in alignment with their previous educational background.

  • Communicate clearly to all levels of the organization to support change and transformation.
  • Develop and implement management strategies and techniques to maximize employee productivity, retention, and satisfaction in a variety of global working environments.
  • Use change management models, frameworks, and strategies to implement organizational changes to enhance positive team dynamics and organizational culture.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress of various business functions to support the organization's continual improvement.
  • Employ a variety of strategies to implement and/or manage the dynamics of change and transformation to engage the members of an organization.
  • Evaluate impact and organizational readiness while developing and implementing change management strategies to adjust the plan and/or approach.
