About the program

Spanish proficiency is a competitive advantage whether you’re considering it for personal enrichment, travel, or career advancement. This program will prepare you to speak, read, write, and listen at an upper intermediate level of Spanish. You’ll progress from introductory Spanish to developing written and spoken Spanish language through critical observation of media, realistic conversations, social activities, and exploration of Spanish in today’s business world. This program will prepare you to write the Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) test at the upper intermediate level.

All courses must be completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older.

  • Interpret both concrete and abstract topics in Spanish language literary works and cultural materials.
  • Write clearly, correctly, and appropriately in Spanish on a wide range of subjects.
  • Present descriptions, clear arguments, and viewpoints to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity in Spanish.
  • Interpret various forms of Spanish oral communication to follow lines of argument on various topics.
  • Compare Spanish-speaking cultures around the world to identify the links between language, culture, and identity.
