About the program

This program is designed for people with an interest in marketing and for those seeking an understanding of the subject. Students will take courses that introduce them to the fundamentals of advertising, internet, research, communication, business and teamwork skills. This program is ideal for those self-employed looking to learn the fundamentals to market their business or employed and looking to add a new skill set to advance in a career.

All courses must be completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older
  • Students must be able to receive instruction, respond, and research in the English language.

Program outcomes

  • Outline marketing processes, activities, and considerations and the role they play in achieving organizational objectives
  • Apply integrating marketing communication related to promotional mix, consumer behaviour, and other approaches to capture the attention of intended target markets
  • Apply principles of finance including simple and compound interest, simple and general annuities, bonds, and cost benefit analysis, to support business practices.
  • Utilize social media tools and techniques to connect with consumers
  • Design and manage multiple market channels and related relationships based on environmental scan analysis
  • Collect and analyze market research data to make informed business decisions in a competitive and rapidly changing global marketplace
  • Recommend digital marketing strategies that identify target audience behaviour and effectively reach these markets such as web search optimization, mobile communication, web site design, and social media
  • Outline sales strategies to show how they can have a direct impact on the profitability of a business.
  • Apply principles and concepts of retail management to support the marketing activities of a business.
  • Create a marketing plan that outlines one or more strategies to sell your products or services
