About the program

To succeed as a manager or leader in today's ever-changing, global, and increasingly virtual business world, you need a broad range of multi-disciplinary skills, a strong leadership self-identity, and a growth mindset. This part-time, hybrid program is ideal if your goal is to succeed in a management or leadership role within a wide variety of business contexts. In this Ontario Graduate Certificate program, you will first build a strong foundation by exploring your own leadership self-identity, style, strengths, and preferences. From there, you will build multidisciplinary skills required by today's business leaders in a variety of areas including project management, strategic planning, business analytics, financial management, change and risk management, and human resources management. In our complex business world, with a dramatic increase in global, remote and hybrid work environments, employee engagement and retention are more critical than ever. You will explore the business case and effective practices for promoting workplace diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. You will learn cutting-edge practices to effectively manage remote, hybrid and global teams to be able to inspire, motivate, guide, and empower others. You will have an opportunity to explore the U.N.'s PRME initiative and Sustainable Development Goals to understand how leaders can incorporate sustainable business practices across a broad range of contexts. In a business world where change is a constant, you will learn practices to not only manage change, but drive value through change. Through a variety of group-based projects, independent self-exploration, case studies and interactive learning opportunities you will develop a broad range of future-proof skills for a range of management and leadership roles. Successful graduates of this program will have completed the academic requirement to pursue the Certified in Management (C.I.M.) designation through CIM | Chartered Managers Canada.

This program is also offered in full-time delivery.

Program information

  • All courses must be successfully completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.

Course fees to complete this program total approximately *$7,800.00.

*This is the estimated amount for domestic students and may differ if students take equivalent courses. Fees are paid when registering for each individual course and are subject to change each term.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent
  • Applicants with 5+ years experience in a supervisory or leadership role(s) with no post-secondary credential will be considered.

Note re: admission requirements

  • Applicants possessing degrees/diplomas from institutions where the language of instruction was not English will be required to provide test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency. Test scores, if required, would be a minimum of TOEFL iBT 88 with no individual skill less than 22; IELTS 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0; CAEL 70 with no sub-test band scores less than 60; PTE Academic 58; Cambridge Exams 180 with no individual score less than 170; or equivalent scores in other recognized standard tests of English.

  • We offer a language program for students whose English language skills are below the standard required for admission but who have met all other admission criteria. You will be eligible for admission to the degree program after completion of level 4 of the General Arts and Science - English Language Studies (ELS) program with an overall grade average of 80% and no grade less than 75%. Your placement in the ELS program is determined by scores on an in-house English language test or TOEFL or IELTS.

  • Applicants applying without a post-secondary diploma or degree must submit a resume documenting relevant work experience in the area of human resource management. Attach your resume to your application.

Graduates of this program will be well prepared for management and leadership roles, such as: team lead, supervisor, coordinator, manager, senior manager, or director across many high-demand sectors, including insurance, banking, financial services, professional services, telecommunications, utilities, trade, transportation, manufacturing and others

  • Promote workplace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging using current industry best practices to increase employee satisfaction in the workplace
  • Reflect on the use of a business communication methodology and/or strategy to convey messages across all levels of organizational structures in a variety of situations
  • Analyze current management methodologies and techniques in a variety of working environments, including remote, hybrid, and global to maximize employee productivity, retention, and satisfaction
  • Use of change management models, frameworks, ands strategies to implement organizational changes to enhance positive team dynamics and organizational culture
  • Apply a continuous improvement lens to a variety of business functions such as financial/fiscal management, data analysis, risk mitigation, and project management to increase organizational effectiveness and profitability
  • Create plans to enhance a company or organization's commitment and action towards sustainable business practices using the United Nation's PRME initiative and sustainable development goals
  • Establish leadership goals, constraints, deliverables, performance criteria, control needs and resource requirements in consultation with stakeholders to optimize business operations
