About the program

In a rapidly evolving global sales landscape, the services of eCommerce professionals with leadership and technical knowledge are highly valued. These eCommerce professionals are multi-disciplinary experts, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, who are capable of envisioning, planning, managing, and executing organizational needs and operational considerations related to eCommerce practice. This two-term Graduate Certificate will empower those interested in pursuing a new career in eCommerce management, or further refining and deepening their skills in eCommerce, to gain current and relevant employability skills for this growing field of expertise. This program introduces current and future trends and impacts of eCommerce practice viewed through the lens of varying eCommerce models and organizational sizes. You will explore various job types and teams within an eCommerce organization as well as refine your own professional practice with opportunities to work in teams, develop business proposals, analyze real-world eCommerce scenarios, manage timelines, budgets and projects, summarize and create action plans based on data analysis, as well as pitch ideas and communicate strategic plans to various audiences. In the final, capstone course, you will have an experiential opportunity to act as an eCommerce entrepreneur and create a real-world eCommerce business of your own.

Program information

All courses must be successfully completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.

Course fees to complete this program total approximately *$5,200.00.

*This is the estimated amount for domestic students and may differ if students take equivalent courses. Fees are paid when registering for each individual course and are subject to change each term.

Admission requirements

  • A two- or three-year diploma or degree from an accredited college or university
  • Applicants with 5+ years of experience in an eCommerce environment with no post-secondary credential will be considered.

Note re: admission requirements

  • Applicants possessing degrees/diplomas from institutions where the language of instruction was not English will be required to provide test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency. Test scores, if required, would be a minimum of TOEFL iBT 88 with no individual skill less than 22; IELTS 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0; CAEL 70 with no sub-test band scores less than 60; PTE Academic 58; CELAP (Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement) 82 or higher; Cambridge Exams 180 (no individual score less than 170); or equivalent scores in other recognized standard tests of English.

As a graduate of this program, you will be well prepared for a variety of roles in an eCommerce organization including, but not limited to, online merchandisers, systems administrators, advertising specialists, product managers, SEO specialists, operation managers/coordinators, brand strategists, vendor managers, inventory specialists, customer support specialists, quality analysts, data analysts, content creators, consumer experience specialists, or web experience managers.

  • Develop social media and marketing plans for a variety of eCommerce businesses to maximize customer conversion and retention.

  • Communicate eCommerce regulations and organizational practices to diverse stakeholder audiences for successful management of eCommerce ventures.

  • Build an eCommerce website that positions a new business in its market, attracts customers, and provides relevant consumer information.
