About the program

This certificate will give you the competitive advantage you need to break into the Big Data and Analytics industry. In this series of data science courses, you'll explore, analyze, report on, monitor and use predictive analysis on small to large data sets in order to transform data into business information.
You'll also explore data science principles, methods and techniques for complex problem solving in order to facilitate better business decisions. You will learn from experienced industry professionals who are experts in the data science field and working in various industries.
With a growing demand for skilled professionals who can gather and analyze small to large amounts of data, this program will prepare you to offer effective strategies for company growth and guide business strategies based on data analysis. You'll develop fundamental statistical and programming skills.
This program helps to prepare you to take the INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional (CAP®)* Certification exam.
The curriculum includes:
  • The fundamentals of data science and predictive modeling
  • Advanced statistical concepts
  • The application of tools and technologies related to data mining and analysis
  • Impactful strategies for presentation of data and outcomes

Program information

All courses must be completed within 3 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older

Admission procedures

  • Submit a completed Conestoga College Program Application Form.
  • Final selection is made following an assessment of the admission requirements.

  • Assess datasets to identify patterns that will serve as the basis for building analytics models to solve real world problems.
  • Analyze data using statistical methods to answer a research question related to a business problem.
  • Process and store large data sets using appropriate big data tools.
  • Produce professional data reports and presentations using advanced data and statistics visualization tools.
