About the program

There is a need for professional accountants and auditors with expertise in information technology and a desire to excel in the industry – this is where you come in.

Our four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Honours degree program provides a comprehensive accounting, auditing, and information technology education that teaches you the skills needed in the global business environment.

Conestoga's BBA Honours program teaches you about information technology. At the same time, you also focus on theory, integrated applied projects, and three paid co-op work terms that will help you gain real-world work experience before graduation. With this unique accounting education, you will be job-ready for Canadian and global business careers. Our accounting professors combine their industry knowledge with the latest hands-on learning strategies and an experiential learning approach using case studies and simulations.

This bachelor's degree meets the undergraduate educational requirements for direct entry into the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Professional Education Program (PEP), part of an individual's path to getting their full CPA designation.

Conestoga College is pleased to announce that our Accounting, Audit, and Information Technology (AAIT) degree has received exemption accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). By graduation, you will have learned Modules F1 to F9, part of an individual's path to obtaining their full ACCA designation.

Conestoga is also a member of AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International.

Conestoga College has been granted a consent by the Minister of Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a seven-year term starting May 9, 2022. Conestoga College shall ensure that all students admitted to the above named program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame. Application to the Ministry for renewal of the consent to deliver is a prescribed and cyclical requirement for all degree programs at all Ontario colleges.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older
  • A minimum of six (6) Grade 12 courses with a minimum cumulative average of 70% (75% if MDM math is between 60-69 or a previously failed grade 12 U level math), including two (2) required university (U) level courses and four (4) additional university/college (U or M) level courses (higher averages may be required for admission.)
  • The following Grade 12 U courses are required:
    • Grade 12 U English (ENG4U) minimum 60%
    • Grade 12 U Mathematics - Advanced Functions (MHF4U) OR Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) OR Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) minimum 60%

Note re: admission requirements

  • Please note: although all math courses listed are acceptable for admission, Advanced Functions (MHF4U) may better prepare students for success within the AAIT program.
  • The following courses are recommended but are not mandatory:
  • Introduction to International Business (BBB4M)
  • Principles of Financial Accounting (BAT4M)
  • Applicants with previous post-secondary education will be assessed on an individual basis in accordance with College and PEQAB guidelines/policies for advanced standing.
  • Advanced standing is available for students graduating from accounting diploma programs. For further information, please contact Deborah Good at dgood@conestogac.on.ca.

  • If your transcripts are from outside of Canada, you will need to obtain a comprehensive course-by-course credential evaluation. You can use an approved provider of credential evaluation services such as ICAS or WES, or applicants can request a credential evaluation through the college using the Assessment of International Credentials for Admissions and Credit Transfer online form.

  • Applicants with transcripts from institutions where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Please refer to English language requirements for details.

Admission procedures

  • Academic strength is calculated by averaging all submitted Grade 12 marks (or equivalent) of the required subjects and four additional U or M courses. If more than four additional courses are submitted, the courses with the highest marks will be used.
  • A sound mathematical and English background is important for success in this program and is considered during the admission selection process. Minimum cutoffs apply.

Program requirements

  • This program uses eTexts.
  • The academic requirements to be eligible for a co-op work term in a degree program are as follows:
    • Minimum 65% session weighted average in the eligibility term two academic terms prior to any co-op work term
    • Maximum two failures or withdrawals during the academic term that occurs in the eligibility term two academic terms prior to any co-op work term
    • Must have successfully completed all but two core courses, according to the program design, by the eligibility term prior to any given work term (regardless of the level the student was placed in advanced standing)
    • Students (even those on special timetables) will not be permitted to complete a co-op work term until conditions above are met and all but two core course deficiencies, according to the program design, are cleared
    • Co-op work terms may need to be re-sequenced to allow academic deficiencies to be cleared or in the event a student changes cohorts (i.e. graduation is delayed by one year or more). Students may not repeat a passed work term
    • Should a student's academic performance decline considerably during the term just prior to any work term, the college reserves the right to withdraw the student from the upcoming work term
    • In the case of back to back work terms eligibility to participate in consecutive work terms will be granted upon approval to participate in the initial work term
    • Where two or more work terms occur back to back, should a student fail to achieve academic eligibility for the first work term, their eligibility for the second work term will be based on the term that occurs two terms prior to the second work term
    • Students in degree programs may only fail/defer each work term in their program design once

Graduate opportunities

Graduates may find employment in financial and managerial accounting, in external and internal audit, and in information systems audit positions.
