About the program

The Adult Education program is for those with expertise in any discipline and/or profession who require the practical application of educational methodologies, tools, and techniques to transfer knowledge and skills. The courses are relevant to anyone who aspires to, or currently designs and delivers post-secondary courses and/or training initiatives. The first course will explore styles, needs, and characteristics of learners and will enable students to examine the effectiveness of course design, instructional delivery, and assessment in subsequent courses. This program is offered fully online.

Courses in this program provide credit towards the Teacher/Trainer for Online Learning certificate program.

Program information

All courses must be completed within 3 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older

Admission procedures

  • Submit a completed Conestoga College Program Application Form.
  • Attach proof of Admission Requirements.
  • Final selection is made following an assessment of the admission requirements.

Graduate opportunities

Graduates of this program may also wish to further their education and obtain their Teacher/Trainer of Adults Ontario College Certificate through Conestoga College in a classroom setting.

  • Assess the learning needs of individuals and organizations in valid and reliable ways
  • Develop and design programs, courses, and/or learning events that meet adult learners' needs, interests, and organizational requirements
  • Facilitate learning that addresses the diverse needs of adult learners by utilizing a variety of appropriate instructional techniques
  • Apply strategies to evaluate learning in adult learning environments
  • Integrate reflective practice into all teaching activities
  • Apply principles and best practices of a variety of theoretical models in adult learning environments
