This course introduces students to the foundations of professional nursing practice in Ontario. Students will begin to develop therapeutic communication skills that support nurse-patient relationships and patient-centred care. Emphasis is placed on exploring the responsibilities, accountabilities, scope of practice, and professional expectations of nurses as outlined by legislation and the College of Nurses of Ontario. Students will examine the principles of evidence informed decision making and practice to support nursing roles.
