The Registered Nurse (RN) Prescribing Course prepares RNs to safely and effectively prescribe authorized medications within their scope of practice. The course focuses on Ontario’s legislative and professional requirements while integrating nursing theory, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence‑informed practice. Learners develop skills in assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, and client education to support safe prescribing and follow‑up care. Successful completion meets the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) entry‑to‑practice competencies for RN prescribing. Learners must be a registered nurse (RN) entitled to practice with the CNO and have 2 years of clinical experience.
