Course description

This course will address the core competencies required for the nurse to care for the new mother including the physical and emotional adjustment to the post-natal period as it related to breastfeeding. The nurse will develop knowledge to help to educate parents in breastfeeding and mediate challenges. A high level of knowledge in normal breast anatomy and lactation physiology will be examined to understand and recognize the abnormal so that appropriate strategies and interventions can be developed.
