Course description

For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You'll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings. By the end of this course you will be able to describe and identify the key stages in grape growing and winemaking, identify the types, characteristics and styles of wines made from the principal grape varieties, and describe the key principles and practices involved in the storage and service of wine. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. Learners can progress to further levels of wine study into WSET levels 2 and 3.
