Course description

This introductory course focuses on the basic building blocks of design, featuring the key concepts and fundamental ideas associated with good graphic design, essential for success in desktop publishing. Students taking this course will improve their power to communicate visually as they explore the Principles and Elements of Design, learn the Language of Design and examine typography basics. As well as simple techniques for creating the illusion of depth and movement, students will learn the importance of white space, as well as ways to create balance and unity in a design. Students will discover how to identify basic design dynamics, allowing them to improve the effectiveness of their own visual communications.
