This course is designed as an alternative to the 500-hours of work experience on appliances exceeding 400000 Btu/h under the supervision of a G.1, so that you can attend the G.1 course. The 500-hour prerequisite for G.1 certification can prove to be a substantial barrier for some G.2s who are otherwise qualified to attend a G.1 training program. To address this impasse, TSSA has authorized Conestoga College to offer a G.1-GAP course recognized as the equivalent to the 500-hour prerequisite under the direct supervision of a Gas Technician 1 certificate holder required for enrollment into a G.1 training course. Upon completion of this course, you must enroll in a full G.1 course within 18 months. The G.1 Gap course cannot be used to challenge the G.1 training requirements.
