About the program

Graduates of this program will have acquired the skills and knowledge to function in an environment that relies heavily on the use of electronic spreadsheets for financial, databasing, multi-sheet models and macros. Students completing the requirements for this certificate in spreadsheet applications should be thoroughly familiar with all the major functions and formulas.

Program information

All courses must be completed within 3 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older.

Note re: admission requirements

  • Students must be able to receive instruction, respond and research in the English language.

Admission procedures

  • Submit a completed Conestoga College Program Application Form.
  • Attach proof of Admission Requirements.
  • Final selection is made following an assessment of the admission requirements.

Program requirements

  • Credit will be given for any qualifying course that was successfully completed up to two (2) years prior to admission into the program.

Program outcomes

  • Enter and edit text, numbers and functions into cells.
  • Create Excel spreadsheets using advanced features such as multi-sheet models, linking and embedding and using macros.
  • Perform advanced functions to manipulate dates, perform conditional operations and look up values in tables.
  • Use advanced functions of Excel.
  • Macro creation on an advanced level such as form validation, importing and exporting and menu creation.
  • Create user-define functions for use in the worksheet.
  • Use Debugging Tools.
  • Create and control custom Toolbars.
  • Create recorded Macros in Excel.
  • Work with the main components of the VBA Editor window.
  • Write code to manipulate Excel objects.
  • Create procedures that start automatically.
