Patient safety is the prevention and mitigation of unsafe acts within the health care system. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the topic of patient safety. Students will gain an understanding of why patient safety is critical in health care today. The course focuses on systems thinking, an understanding of error theories, human factors, the importance of team work, and communication within a culture of safety.
