This course is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge and principles of administering intravenous drugs through a variety of infusion techniques and managing patient controlled analgesia. The principles of compatibility, preparation, administration and responsibilities in administering intravenous drugs including patient controlled analgesia will be discussed. A focus will be placed on nursing assessment, patient and device monitoring, mathematical calculations, and client/family teaching.
