Course description

This course will provide the student with knowledge and skills regarding the influential factors affecting childbearing families. Historical, social, cultural, and situational factors will be explored as they affect the nursing care of expectant families. Discussion areas will include medicalization of women's power, current trends in birthing, global political trends, marketing formula/baby friendly environments, renewal of midwifery/doula and interest groups.
